Charleston High Schoolers Explore STEM Careers During Field Trip Hosted by OhmIQ

We've partnered with Charleston Empowered to give students an inside look at careers in science and engineering. We've provided local high school students with an immersive STEM experience this week. Students from West Ashley High School learned about unique career opportunities in engineering and physics during a career development panel, toured OhmIQ’s state-of-the-art lab, and engaged in hands-on experiments for a unique look into the science behind Ohm’s Law.

OhmIQ strives to give back to the North Charleston community by investing in the next generation of scientists and engineers right here in Charleston. As part of its mission to educate the masses about the power of ohmic technology, a centuries-old law of physics that calculates the relationship between voltage, current, and resistance within a material, OhmIQ has committed to hosting similar experiences for students on a regular basis.

“This week, we were proud to welcome local students into our facility and demonstrate the power of careers in STEM,” says OhmIQ CEO Frederique Pirenne. “ This experience was the first step in our larger push to support our Low-country community through education. We look forward to continuing our educational initiatives by partnering with like-minded organizations in Charleston and beyond.”

Charleston Empowered is a local career exploration and readiness center in Charleston County that helps students reach their goals. High school students can partake in dedicated career programs and internships while working closely with community partners to further their education and gain valuable experience. “Our students enjoyed the detailed demonstrations of ohmic heating, along with getting a glimpse into a career in engineering,” said (CE contact). “We deeply appreciate the level of care OhmIQ took in engaging with our students and creating a fun environment!”
