Technology exists all around us and improves our lives in myriad ways, but it’s not always easy to understand. From water pressure devices to coffee machines and items as simple as light switches, invisible technology provides us with a high quality of life.
OhmIQ heating technology yields exceptional results, from its massive scalability to decreased bacterial growth. It can be hard for decision-makers to picture how a tiny product can make such a big difference, so we partnered with our friends at Oak Ridge to create a video game demonstrating how our product works.
Our game is a quick and entertaining online challenge that showcases how our revolutionary heating technology system functions. Thermal Titans: The OhmIQ Game demonstrates the functionality and process of the heating chamber used in our heating solution technology.
Why we developed the game
Thermal Titans was developed to give people an inside look at how our technology works at the highest level. “Our main goal with Thermal Titans is to educate customers,” says OhmIQ CMO Neil Gannon. “We want to be transparent about our technology. Thermal Titans is a fun way for everyone from prospective clients to students to glean a baseline understanding of the physics principles at play.”
The video game is a great way to educate customers quickly and efficiently about OhmIQ heating technology. Although we’ve harnessed centuries-old technology, we firmly believe that anyone can understand the power of conductivity by playing Thermal Titans. “We can’t wait for people to try Thermal Titans and get a sense of the extraordinary science behind Ohm’s Law,” says Pirenne.
OhmIQ is a game-changer in the heating industry, always pushing the boundaries of sustainable heating. With Thermal Titans, we can show how our technology works instead of telling you. “We believe in constant innovation and sustainability,” says Principal Engineer and Head of Innovation Gregory Lyon. “Creating Thermal Titans was just one crucial step in our journey to encourage businesses to reach a new level of performance and sustainability with their heating solutions.”
Oak Ridge, the company that brought Thermal Titans to life, had a similar vision for creating the game. “The true genius is in making the complicated, simple,” says Adam Moss, developer of Thermal Titans. “Bringing difficult technology to life in a fun, engaging, and gamified fashion that appeals, in design, directly to the working demographic of the industry allows Ohmiq to open conversations with clarity and understanding between them and future clients.”
Not only is the goal of Thermal Titans to showcase OhmIQ’s technology on your screen, but to demonstrate that B2B marketing can be fun. Gannon feels that Thermal Titans will help bring creativity back to the B2B market. “I’ve worked with some of the largest brands in the world, and we spent so much time and money getting the creative right, “ says Gannon. “Some people don’t see this as important in B2B, but decision-making is still an emotional decision that can be influenced by some creativity.” Thermal Titans is a great example of how companies can take creative, owned media and turn it into a brand asset for specialized and advanced products.
The Science
Unlike conventional heating methods, which use resistive heating elements to transfer heat through conduction, Ohmic heating skips this step. It directly converts electrical energy into heat energy using a liquid as the resistor, resulting in efficient and precise heating.
The game starts with electrodes, the conductive element through which an electric current travels in the chamber. These electrodes are represented as the balls moving back and forth.
These electrodes are the electrical power sources heating the chamber. The processing chamber, designed to minimize energy loss, is where the desired medium is heated. Through a microprocessor, this power source controls the intensity and duration of the electrical current, allowing control of the temperature inside the chamber.
In the game, users play the processor role, controlling the internal temperature by moving the side panels to bounce the electrodes. Every time an electrode hits the panel, the speed and distance between the two panels increases. When you miss an electrode, the temperature decreases. The goal is to maintain a temperature of 96° for three seconds to reach OhmIQ.

The game can teach people in all industries how OhmIQ heating technology works, leading to an expansion in sustainable heating solutions. Our ongoing research shows that our heating solution may revolutionize new industries in which rapid heating is essential. “When developing Thermal Titans, we envisioned it as an educational tool before anything else. We wanted to break down a seemingly complex technology into its simplest form to show that anyone could understand it with a quick play of the game,” said Gannon. Gamification of educational material helps with retention, engagement, and accessibility for individuals with specific learning preferences.
Thermal Titans can be used to teach students of any age about Ohm’s Law, an important principle in physics. High school classrooms and college courses might find the game a fun addition to a standard curriculum.
