Ms. Manigault surprised the room by not only reading a proclamation from the Mayor but also announcing that November 7 will be known as OhmIQ Day in North Charleston. The exiting designation honors OhmIQ’s commitment to economic growth, business excellence, and community improvement for many years to come.
“The City of North Charleston is committed to supporting OhmIQ and its endeavors to advance technological innovation and job creation to the benefit of our residents and betterment of the entire region,” said Manigault on behalf of Mayor Reggie Burgess and his administration.

Now, therefore, I, Reginald L. Burgess, Mayor of the City of North Charleston, do hereby proclaim November 7, 2024 as
OHMIQ DAY
in the city of North Charleston and encourage all citizens to participate wholeheartedly in its observance.
Ms. Manigault turned the floor over to CEO Frederique Pirenne, who took time to thank everyone who has supported OhmIQ’s first 18 months, including IAG Capital Partners, Gilbert & Lee, the Charleston Economic Development Council, the office of the South Carolina Secretary of State, and the cities of Charleston and North Charleston.
“Business is the ultimate team sport,” said Pirenne. “In only 18 months, we developed three impressive products and added four new patents to our extended portfolio. We were only able to do this thanks to our team’s dedication, drive, and deep care and commitment to our community, as well as support from our fantastic partners.”
Pirenne shared the exciting news that OhmIQ is embarking on a new funding initiative and is seeking a green technology partner to help push its groundbreaking work even further. He also announced that phase two of OhmIQ’s expansion will include hiring 11 new team members in 2025 (bringing the total number of new jobs OhmIQ has created to 21) and continuing work on the lab space.
Manigault and Pirenne shared giant scissors to officially cut the ribbon. From there, guests embarked on an in-depth tour of the OhmIQ office, during which various team members spoke on their projects and showcased the evolution of their technology. Attendees got to view and ask questions about new iterations of OhmIQ’s technology that will seamlessly integrate with various industry-specific products to improve operational speed, efficiency, and overall performance. For example, one displayed product will integrate with coffee machines to perfect the timing and temperatures necessary for making espresso, ultimately replacing coffee boilers.
The tours culminated in the unveiling of ThermIQ, one of OhmIQ’s most mature and exciting products coming to market soon.
The Power of ThermIQ
“ThermIQ is a booster for heat bumps,” said Pirenne before unveiling the product. “In a lot of countries, there is a big push for decarbonization, so people have to go to electricity. The problem with electricity is heat bumps. In colder climates like Boston or Canada, the range of heat bumps just doesn’t cover what’s needed. The only thing you can do is install more, larger heat bumps, which cost a lot more and consume a lot more. With this product, we offer a decentralized booster that can boost heat precisely where it is required in a building.”
One prospective customer managing four buildings in Washington, D.C., is considering installing 250 ThermIQ units in each building. The total cost for this project would come out to about $625,000. The only alternative they have is drilling geothermal for about $3,000,000. The cost and energy savings that ThermIQ can provide are unmatched on the market today.
Pirenne continued, “These units are connected to the Internet. Based on weather forecasts and other data about the average number of people in a building at any given time, these units will only heat when and where necessary.”
